Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar is one of the American and British sitarist. She was the youngest and first female to win a British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live and to serve as a presenter at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is the Indian young sitar star. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her early years included a period of time between London and New Delhi. She gave her debut performance at New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. Later the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording career. For a long time she regularly performs with her father. In 1998, she dropped Anourag as her debut solo record. In 2002, she released her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. Because she has performed on all the major stages in across the globe, she's stage career is extensive. Anoushka's career does not only include music. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her early years in London and Delhi then moving to California in the state where she attended high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration she made her debut performing the sitar in front of the audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire a variety of valuable experiences when she accompanied her father when he toured the world. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals in addition to performing alongside George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was given an award by the British Parliament for being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and youngest recipient of this distinction.
